From Spirit Week and Color Wars to The Great Race, Homecoming is so much more than just a football game at Linfield; it is always one of the highlights of the year!
Spirit Week
The theme this year is Aloha Hoco, and high school students will demonstrate their class pride by participating in class competitions and dressing up according to the week’s theme.
This year’s dress-up days are as follows:
- Monday, October 19 - Take Off (dress in pjs, sunglasses, neck pillow, etc.)
- Also Anything But a Backpack Day (item can not be alive, must fit under a standard desk, can not block aisles, can not be a motorized vehicle/cart)
- Tuesday, October 20 - Lost at Sea (dress as a pirate or mermaid)
- Wednesday, October 21 - Wrong Luggage (dress in snow gear - boots, jackets, beanies, etc.)
- Thursday, October 22 - Tourists in Disguise (dress in a costume but for Hawaii - i.e. Spiderman in board shorts, a minion with a hula skirt, etc.)
- Friday, October 23 - Fruit Punch (dress in class colors)
Color Wars
Students will decorate their hallways for Color Wars on Sunday, October 18. Remember: A class adviser must be present, and you must use painter’s tape. Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are decorating from 2:00-4:00 p.m.; Seniors are decorating from 4:15-6:15 p.m. *Note - Remember there must be at least four students for every parent who helps!
The Great Race
On Friday, October 23, students will get decked out in their class colors and compete in a variety of preliminary events before participating in the Great Race, one of Linfield’s favorite annual traditions, to determine the winner of Spirit Week.
*Note – this is a minimum day for HS students (dismissed when the Great Race finishes- around 12:30). Parents: Unfortunately, we can not accommodate spectators at this time.
